Chief Executive Officer

Wai-Kwong Seck is Chief Executive Officer of Eastspring Investments, the USD 240 billion Asian investment management arm of Prudential plc. As CEO, he has overall responsibility for growing the business, deepening the investment capabilities and expanding Eastspring’s global and local retail and institutional client base.

Prior to joining Eastspring in April 2019, he was CEO Asia-Pacific for State Street Bank & Trust since 2011. He had joined State Street from the Singapore Exchange where he was Chief Financial Officer for eight years. His professional career had been focused primarily on wealth management and investment banking, having held senior-level positions in the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), Lehman Brothers and DBS Bank.

Wai-Kwong is a board member of GIC. He is also chairman of the Investment Committee and a Trustee of the Singapore Police Force’s pension fund. He chairs the Future Leaders Council at the Wealth Management Institute of Nanyang Technological University. He is on the Global Advisory Board of Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts, and a member of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology’s Business School Advisory Council. 

Wai-Kwong earned a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from the Wharton School with a major in finance, and a Bachelor of Economics with first-class honours from Australia’s Monash University, where he is also a Vice-Chancellor Professorial Fellow and serves on the Monash Philanthropy Council. On Singapore’s National Day in 2017, the Republic awarded him the Public Service Medal.

Chief Financial Officer

Francis Woo joined Eastspring Investments, the Asian asset management business of Prudential plc, as Chief Financial Officer, in January 2020.

Francis is responsible for the financial management of the business, working closely with the regional support teams. He is a member of the Eastspring Management Committee.

Prior to joining Eastspring, Francis was Chief Financial Officer, Asia for TPG Capital Asia, where he oversaw the firm’s profitability and the performance of its investments in Asia. He also focused on investment opportunities in Southeast Asia as Managing Director.

Francis has spent over eleven years in investment banking. Before joining TPG Capital Asia in 2012, he was Co-Head of Corporate Finance for Southeast Asia at Credit Suisse Group AG. His investment banking experience includes time in New York with UBS Investment Bank and Credit Suisse First Boston.

Francis holds an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

Chief Risk Officer

Gwee Siew Ping joined Eastspring Investments, the Asian asset management business of Prudential plc, as Chief Risk Officer, in 2013.

She is responsible for Legal, Risk & Compliance across the 11 markets in which Eastspring Investments operate.

Before joining Eastspring Investments, Siew Ping worked at Schroders, where she was Regional Head of Compliance and Risk, Asia Pacific. She was also a member of the Board of Directors of a number of the Schroder entities incorporated in Singapore including the asset management and the merchant bank entities. She joined Schroders in 1997 and held several senior compliance roles within the firm. Prior to Schroders, she was an Internal Auditor at Swiss Bank Corporation and JP Morgan respectively, leading audits in the Global Markets and Emerging Markets Treasury audits across Asia Pacific.

In 2009, Siew Ping was awarded the Distinguished Financial Industry Certified Professional certification in Compliance - Fund Management by the Institute of Banking and Finance.

 Siew Ping holds a MBA awarded by the University of Manchester (Manchester Business School) and a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from the National University of Singapore. She is also professionally qualified as a Chartered Accountant of Singapore by the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants.

Chief Operating Officer

Jeroen Buwalda is Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Eastspring Investments, with responsibility for investment operations, IT, data and administrative support as well as other strategic growth and change initiatives. He has held this position since January 2019.

Jeroen has more than 20 years’ experience in driving innovative change for wealth managers, fund managers and banks across Europe and Asia Pacific and joined Eastspring Investments in January 2017 to lead a highly successful three-year strategic transformation program across the business.

Prior to joining Eastspring, Jeroen was a partner at Ernst and Young (EY) in Hong Kong and the lead for EY’s Asia-Pacific Wealth & Asset Management Advisory practice, focusing on corporate strategy, enterprise architecture and large-scale IT enabled transformation programs.

Before EY, Jeroen was an executive at BT Financial Group (part of Westpac Banking Corporation) leading product development and various integration and transformation programs across private banking, financial advice and wealth distribution businesses.

Jeroen holds a Master of Science, Economics from Erasmus University of Rotterdam.

Chief Human Resources Officer

Cynthia Tan is Chief Human Resources Officer at Eastspring Investments, the asset management business of Prudential Corporation Asia and part of Prudential plc of the UK.

She is a member of the Eastspring Management Committee and has responsibility for developing and executing a people and culture plan that will support the firm’s growth in the long-term.

Cynthia has more than 20 years of human resources experience in the banking and finance sector across Asia. Prior to joining Eastspring Investments, she worked at ING Bank in Singapore where, for more than 10 years, she was head of HR for Asia Pacific for the retail and wholesale bank.

During her time at ING, Cynthia led the HR integration of TMB in Thailand, initiating cultural change activities and supporting transformation initiatives across Asia.  Prior to ING, Cynthia held HR roles at Standard Chartered Bank and the Government of Singapore Investment Corp.

Cynthia holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology from the National University of Singapore. She also has a graduate diploma in personnel management from the Singapore Institute of Management.

Head of Distribution

Xavier Meyer joined Eastspring Investments in 2014 as Head of Product Strategy and Development before assuming his current role.

As Head of Distribution, Xavier is responsible for all distribution activities across Eastspring. In this role he oversees the product and life relationship functions, the institutional and retail sales strategies, client relationship management and marketing.

Prior to joining Eastspring, Xavier worked for thirteen years with BNP Paribas in Europe and Asia (Seoul & Hong Kong), in product, investment & business development functions. He was APAC Head of Product Development and Strategic Marketing for BNP Paribas Investment Partners from 2012 to 2014, and Managing Director for Shinhan BNP Paribas between 2009 and 2012.

Xavier holds a Master’s degree in Economics & Finance from Sciences Po Paris and a Master’s degree from NEOMA Business School.

Head of Mergers, Acquisitions and Joint Ventures <br/>Eastspring Investments

Bernard Teo is Head of Mergers, Acquisitions and Joint Ventures at Eastspring and is a member of the Executive Management Committee.

In addition to holding responsibility for mergers and acquisitions activity, Bernard oversees Eastspring’s three joint ventures – ICICI-Pru, CITIC-Pru and BOCI-Pru – and the development of Eastspring’s wholly foreign-owned enterprise in China. This sees him focus on maximising growth opportunities in the India and China markets.

Bernard led the acquisition of a 65% stake in TMB Asset Management in September 2018 and the acquisition of a 50.1% stake in Thanachart Fund in December 2019. In August 2019, he was appointed Executive Chairman of TMBAM Eastspring and Thanachart Fund Eastspring, leading the integration of these two Thai asset management firms into the broader Eastspring business.

Prior to Eastspring, Bernard worked in the investment banking industry, focusing on financial institutions. He spent 12 years at Goldman Sachs, where he was a Managing Director and Co–Chief Operating Officer of Asia Pacific (excluding Japan) for the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) and Head of China FIG. Bernard was responsible for clients in Greater China and South East Asia and co-managed a group of 50 APxJ FIG bankers.

Before this, Bernard was with Lehman Brothers/Nomura International, where he was Senior Vice President and Managing Director of the Financial Institutions Group in the Investment Banking Division.

Bernard holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University and a Masters in Business Administration degree from Harvard University.

Chief Executive Officer, Singapore and Hong Kong / Head of Investment Strategies

Boon Peng is the Chief Executive Officer of Eastspring Singapore and Eastspring Hong Kong. He is also Head of Investment Strategies, overseeing the firm’s single strategy investment capabilities, including Equities, Fixed Income and Quantitative Strategies. In addition, Boon Peng is responsible for Eastspring’s central dealing function and Client Portfolio Managers. He is a member of the Eastspring Management Committee.

 

Boon Peng joined Eastspring Investments in July 2007, becoming Head of Regional Fixed Income and then taking on the role of Singapore CEO in 2018. In 2019, Boon Peng took on the additional roles of CEO of Hong Kong and Head of Investment Strategies. He has a proven track record as both a people and money manager, building up Eastspring Singapore’s Fixed Income team, which is pre-eminent in Asia today.

 

Prior to joining Eastspring Investments, Boon Peng was CIO and Executive Director at UOB Asset Management, Alternative Investments, where he was responsible for the business and investment management of CDOs and credit assets. Before this, he was Head of Fixed Income at Fullerton Fund Management Company, where he oversaw the management of fixed income investments in developed and emerging bond markets. Boon Peng also spent over 15 years of his career with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) where he worked in various areas of the Reserves Management Department, including seven years managing funds out of the MAS New York Office. Over the 2001-2002 period, Boon Peng was also the Representative of the MAS New York Office.

   

Boon Peng has more than 30 years of investment experience. In 2014, he was conferred the title of “IBF Fellow” by the Institute of Banking and Finance of Singapore. This honour is aimed at recognising industry veterans who have demonstrated mastery of a profession and exemplify thought leadership and commitment to industry development. He was also named CIO of the Year in Asia Asset Management’s Best of the Best Regional Awards for 2014 and 2015.

 

Boon Peng holds a Bachelor of Science (Building) (Hons) degree from National University of Singapore and is a CFA charterholder.

Head of Investment Solutions

Kelvin is Head of Investment Solutions at Eastspring Investments, the Asian asset management business of Prudential plc. He is responsible for overseeing the investment solutions team at Eastspring that manages outcome orientated capabilities for external and internal clients.  Kelvin is a member of the Eastspring Executive Committee.

 

Kelvin has a total of 28 years of investment experience across a wide range of asset classes and markets. Over his 18 year tenure at Eastspring, Kelvin has had responsibility for the Fixed Income team, derivatives and structured products as well as alternative assets and, for the last 11 years, the Global Asset allocation team.  Prior to this, Kelvin worked for 11 years at Schroders Investment Management, in various roles within the global fixed income team based in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. He has extensive experience in dealing with Prudential Life clients and multi-asset solutions for both internal and external clients. His investment expertise in Strategic Asset Allocation and Tactical Asset Allocation is widely recognised and acknowledged by his peers at Prudential Life, Eastspring’s largest client.

   

Kelvin holds a Bachelor of Science (First Class Hons)  in Mathematical Sciences from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland (1989). He is also a CFA charterholder.

Head of Corporate Strategy and Chief of Staff <br/>Taiwan, Interim CEO of Eastspring

Janelle Yeo is Head of Corporate Strategy and Chief of Staff at Eastspring Investments, the asset management business of Prudential Corporation Asia and part of Prudential plc of the UK. In addition, she was appointed the interim CEO of Eastspring Taiwan in October 2019.

She is a member of the Eastspring Management Committee, with responsibility for driving the firm’s strategic agenda and supporting the CEO in the roll-out of key organisational-wide initiatives.

Janelle joined Eastspring Investments in 2008. Prior to taking up her current roles in August 2019, she was Chief Financial Officer for Eastspring Investments in Taiwan and, before this, Director of Regional Strategic Planning for the global business.

Janelle has over 20 years of experience within the financial services in Asia. She began her career as a banking supervisor with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and then became a management consultant with Oliver Wyman.

Janelle holds a MBA from INSEAD and a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. She has also been awarded the CFA charter.

China, General Manager

Michael was appointed the General Manager for Eastspring Investments in China in 2018. He joined Eastspring from Robeco, where he led the China business for more than 10 years. He has over 20 years’ experience working for global financial institutions in China. Throughout most of his career, he has held leadership roles heading up the local representative offices / WFOEs and leading business development efforts with large institutional investors and distributors in China.

Michael started work in the financial services sector within the corporate advisory department at Jardine Fleming Securities in China in 1994. His career in asset management began in 2002 when he joined ABN Amro Asset Management to help the firm build its asset management business in China.

Indonesia, President Director

Alan has 25 years of experience in financial industry including life insurance, banking, corporate finance, pension and asset management companies.

Prior to joining Eastspring, Alan spent 12 years with Allianz Life Indonesia, most recently as the Chief Investment Officer as well as a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to his CIO role, he held senior roles in market management, bancassurance and risk management at Allianz Life.

Alan holds Investment Management Representative License (WMI), a Certified Financial Planner (Singapore), Fellow Chartered Financial Planner (Singapore) and Registered Financial Planner (Indonesia).

Representative Director and Chief Executive Officer <br/> Eastspring Investments Japan

Yasuhisa Nitta is Representative Director and Chief Executive Officer of Eastspring Investments Japan, responsible for driving and developing retail and institutional business. He has held this position since July 2020.

With over 30 years’ investment management experience, Yasuhisa joined Eastspring Investments from PGIM Japan (previously Prudential Investment Management Japan) where he served as President and Chief Executive Officer for 13 years. At PGIM, he made a significant contribution to business growth and established a strong reputation for the firm, especially in the institutional market.

Prior to joining PGIM Japan, Yasuhisa held several senior roles with Mizuho Financial Group in Japan, Zurich and London, including positions at Mizuho Bank, Dai-Ichi Kangyo Asset Management (now known as Asset Management One) and DKB Investment Management International.

Yasuhisa holds a Bachelor of Economics degree from Hitotsubashi University and is a Certified Member Analyst of SAAJ. He is also a Certified International Investment Analyst and holds an UK Investment Management Certificate.

Korea , Chief Executive Officer

Cheon Woong was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Eastspring Investments, Korea, in 2012. He is responsible for driving business for both the institutional and retail sectors. Prior to joining Eastspring, Cheon Woong was CEO and President at Mirae Asset Global Investments (HK) Ltd and, before that, International Chief Marketing Officer.

During the past 15 years, Cheon Woong has worked in many of the world’s key financial centres, including New York, London, Hong Kong and Singapore, for organisations ranging from Hyundai Securities and Merrill Lynch to Morgan Stanley and Woori Investment & Securities.

Malaysia, Chief Executive Officer

Raymond was appointed Chief Executive Officer for Eastspring Investments, Malaysia, in 2016. He also sits on the Board of Directors of Eastspring Investment Berhad. Raymond joined Eastspring from CMS Dresdner Asset Management Sdn Bhd, where he was the Executive Director and Chief Investment Officer. He has over 30 years of industry experience, in positions including Head of International and Institutional Business, and Chief Investment Officer, ASEAN region for CIMB-Principal Asset Management Berhad.

Raymond is the Chairman of Malaysian Association of Asset Managers (MAAM) and is also the Chairman of FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index Advisory Committee. He is a Director of the Securities Industry Dispute Resolution Center (SIDREC) and sits on the Executive Committee for the Malaysia International Islamic Financial Centre (MIFC) as well.

Head of Corporate Strategy and Chief of Staff <br/>Taiwan, Interim CEO of Eastspring

Janelle Yeo is Head of Corporate Strategy and Chief of Staff at Eastspring Investments, the asset management business of Prudential Corporation Asia and part of Prudential plc of the UK. In addition, she was appointed the interim CEO of Eastspring Taiwan in October 2019.

Chief Executive Officer <br/>TMBAM Eastspring and Thanachart Fund Eastspring

Adisorn Sermchaiwong is Chief Executive Officer of TMBAM Eastspring and Thanachart Fund Eastspring, with responsibility for growing our retail and institutional business in Thailand and overseeing the integration of the two businesses. Eastspring acquired 65 per cent of TMB Asset Management (now TMBAM Eastspring) in September 2018 and 50.1 per cent of Thanachart Fund (now Thanachart Fund Eastspring) in December 2019. Through Eastspring’s combined holdings, the firm is the fifth largest asset manager in Thailand.

Adisorn has more than 25 years’ experience in investment management, wealth management and retail banking. He joined Eastspring in September 2020 from CIMB Thai Bank (CIMBT), where he was the President and Chief Executive Officer. Adisorn spent eight years at CIMBT in a number of senior roles, including Deputy CEO and Head of Consumer Banking.

Prior to his tenure with CIMBT, Adisorn held senior roles at UOB Thai Bank and Siam Commercial Bank and was President of SCB Asset Management.

Adisorn holds a MBA from Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from Chulalongkorn University.

Vietnam, Chief Executive Officer

Ngo The Trieu is Chief Executive Officer and acting Chief Investment Officer of Eastspring Investments, Vietnam. He has more than 18 years’ experience in finance and investments, including more than 10 years with Eastspring. He headed up the Equity and Fixed Income investment from 2010, became CIO in 2015, and assumed the role of CEO in 2018. Trieu previously worked for another part of the Prudential group, Prudential Vietnam Assurance Private Limited, as an Actuary and, before that, at Arthur Andersen and Eximbank.

Trieu holds a Master’s degree in International Project Management from Skema Business School in France, an MBA from the Center of French-Vietnamese Management Institution (CFVG), a BA in Corporate Finance from HCMC University of Economics and a BA in Foreign Economics from Vietnam Foreign Trade University. He is a CFA charter-holder and holds the Fund Management Practice License issued by the State Securities Commission of Vietnam.
