SINGAPORE (14 November 2016) - Eastspring Investments (“Eastspring”), the US$140 billion Asian investment management arm of Prudential plc and the region’s largest retail manager¹, announced today the appointment of asset management industry veteran Virginie Maisonneuve to the role of Chief Investment Officer.  

This strategic move fits within Eastspring’s ambition to constantly build out investment capabilities and leverage the best talent in the industry. 

Reporting to Chief Executive Guy Strapp, Ms Maisonneuve will be responsible for managing  all investments at the firm, including the firm’s equity, fixed income, asset allocation, private equity, infrastructure and onshore investment offerings. She will commence in her role on 11 January 2017. 

Ms Maisonneuve has almost 30 years of global asset management experience and most recently was Managing Director,  Chief Investment Officer of Equities at PIMCO. Prior to this, she was the Head of Global Equities, Director and Portfolio Manager for more than 10 years at Schroders. Ms Maisonneuve has been a portfolio manager at  a number of asset management firms, including Clay Finlay, State Street Research, Batterymarch and Martin Currie. While managing funds directly, Virginie was a top rated fund manager. Ms Maisonneuve was also one of the first investors to launch a China equity fund in the US.

Ms Maisonneuve holds a Bachelor ‘s degree in Political Economics from from the People’s University, Beijing and a Master’s degree in Mandarin Chinese from Dauphine University in Paris.  She is Chair of the CFA’s UK Gender Diversity Network and a member of the Advisory Council of the International Crisis Group.
