Eastspring Investments’ Chief Investment Officer, Virginie Maisonneuve, joined a panel at the Bloomberg ASEAN Business Summit in Bangkok last week to discuss investment opportunities.

The summit, opened by His Excellency Prayuth Chan-Ocha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, and attended by Malaysia Prime Minister YAB Tun Dr Mahathir Bin Mohamad, gathered global business and regional policy leaders to explore opportunities to accelerate regional growth.

In conversation with Arv Sreedhar (Executive Director & Head of Capital Markets, Atlantic Partners Asia) and Michelle Jamrisko (Southeast Asia Economy Reporter for Bloomberg), Virginie explored the year of political risks in 2019 so far and how this hasn’t dampened investors’ excitement about new opportunities. They then looked at the hot areas in the region and how these projects are being financed differently. The conversation also explored investor interest in ESG issues, whether or not governments are doing enough to improve the business climate and what public-private partnerships could look like.

Virginie says: “I was delighted to be part of this thought-provoking discussion on the most compelling investment opportunities in 2019. It is clear that we have many options to explore with our clients.”
